Two Session Workshop
Prerequisites: Knit Basics Workshop @ RICK RACK and/or advanced beginner skills
Until you take this workshop you are not going to believe how freaking easy it is to bang out the most comfortable sweatshirt using a sewing machine! Seriously, you will live in this sweater! Learn how to cut out knits, follow sweatshirt patterns, plan the perfect fit, and practice healthy practices for garment sewing with knits! Participants will get to choose between two size ranges made by Megan Nielsen. In the workshop, you will go through the process of creating View A of the Jarrah pattern - which includes cuffs, a hem band and has a loose, drop shoulder design to it! Need help with fabric colour choices and measurements? Our helpful retail team can guide you through your tough choices!
Please remember that this will be your first attempt at using this pattern, it may not be absolutely perfect, and that’s ok! Our workshops will help you create your “wearable muslin”.
With the pattern sent to your email after the session, you’ll have the sewing confidence to recreate it for your future projects! Instructors and our retail staff can also help you with fabric inspirations.

Participants MUST BE comfortable with threading the machine and bobbin, straight stitches, zigzag stitching, fabric pressing and a few sewing projects under your belt. Also comfortable sewing knit fabric with a sewing machine. Sewing machines are provided in the studio space, so no need to bring your own!
If you are a newer sewer then please be sure to take our Knits Basics workshop first.
*We provide a complimentary consultation to help plan your project with us. Please plan a visit to RICK RACK before you attend the first session of this workshop. During this consultation, we are happy to help you pick and purchase your fabrics and material list. You will need to take home your fabric and pre-wash and press before the start of your first workshop.
Please register using the form below - for multiple students, please fill out the form and add the class to your cart one at a time. If the class you want is full, why not sign up for our waitlist?
