Class Policies

The current Mask Policy, of mandatory masking in the studio, will be in effect until June 1st, 2022 - we will then be moving to voluntary mask wearing.

If you cannot make your class, you must give RICK RACK at least 48 hours notice in order to reschedule or receive a refund for the booking. We are unable to offer make-up classes for subsequent missed classes. If you cannot make your class, please call us at 403-263-8088.

Cancellations made within 48 hours of the class are not eligible for a refund or rescheduling.

If you need to reschedule before the 48 hour deadline, we will happily move you to another date if the schedule allows. If you have to reschedule a second time, we will refund you for the class (as long as you tell us a minimum of 48 hours before, of course!)

In the event RICK RACK is not able to run the class due to low enrollment, we will provide 48 hours notice as well.

The first 10 minutes of class are super, duper important! For this reason, we ask that you arrive on time (aim for about 5 minutes early!) If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will not be able to join the class.

Our studio space is located on the main floor with no stairs, however, the main entrance is narrow; our classes are also very physical and require participants to switch between standing and sitting regularly. Please let us know ahead of time if there are any accommodations you require - we want to make sure you feel safe and comfortable during your class! Service dogs and other aids are welcome in class.

We also recommend comfortable footwear for all participants, as there is fair amount of standing during classes.

Sewists must be at least 16 years old to take a class at RICK RACK.

We want to set you up to have the best time possible in all our class, whether you are brand new to sewing or just looking to upgrade your skill set. If you aren't sure if a class is the right level for you check out our handy breakdown for our 4 levels of classes:

  • 1/4 - You are brand new to the world of sewing, no previous experience is needed, we'll teach you from scratch!
  • 2/4 - You have sewn a bit, you know how to thread your machine, straight and zig zag stitch, and you have a few projects completed
  • 3/4 - You have sewn, you know how to thread and use your machine, straight and zig zag stitch, read a pattern and you have a few garment projects completed
  • 4/4 - You have sewn for a while now, you know how to thread and use your machine, straight and zig zag stitch, used a serger, read a pattern and you have 5+ garment projects completed
  • Serging 3/4 - You know how to thread your serger, adjust tension, and have used it for woven projects
  • Drafting 1/4 - You are brand new to drafting, no previous experience is needed, we'll teach you from scratch!

If you do not feel confident about the skills a class requires, please email us at and we can recommend a class to help you build your confidence!

RICK RACK is committed to providing our staff, students, and instructors with a safe learning environment. If you are unable to comply with our COVID-19 policies, you will be asked to leave without a refund.

  • As of June 1st, 2022 masks are voluntary in class and on the retail floor, please be respectful or other choices regarding masks.

  • Please DO NOT attend class if you are unwell. We will do our best to reschedule you if you become sick.

  • Seating is arranged as safely as possible.

  • Abuse will not be tolerated. Please be kind to the staff and instructors - we are all doing our best to keep you safe!

Hand sanitizer will be provided. At this time, we are suspending our coffee and tea service, so please feel free to bring your own (in a covered travel mug or water bottle.)

RICK RACK expects our team members to follow the same COVID safety rules, so you can feel safe and secure during your class.
