Pattern: A quilted witches hat is the must have accessory for all magical babes this season (and all seasons to come). This classic hat is gussied up and stabilized with some dazzling quilting, and made out of a fabric that speaks to your occult soul.
Length: 5.5 hours with a half-hour lunch break each day
Cost: $135.00+gst per person
Pre-Requisites: Beginner Tote Bag, Roll Pouch, Zipper Pouch or previous sewing experience.
Level: 2/4 - Not sure if you meet the requirements to take this class? Click HERE for skill-level descriptions.
Supplies:
Fabric and Notions Not Included - You are welcome to bring fabric from anywhere, but if you buy your fabric in-store at RICK RACK you'll get a little bonus of 10% off your class fabric.
Recommended Fabric - Quilting cotton is the best option for weight and stability, but this hat would also be amazing out of linen, lightweight canvas, or other similar stable woven fabrics.
Fabric and Notion requirements -
- You will need 0.65 meters each of an outer fabric and a lining fabric. These can be mixed and matched, and you are welcome to bring fabric that has been pieced at home.
- Batting or Foam: We recommend batting for the hat piece of which you will need a 35 cm x 65 cm piece. For the brim batting will provide a floppier brim (black hat) while foam will give a stiffer brim (pink, orange, and purple hat), you will need a 50 cm x 50 cm piece.
- Thread: This thread will be for both sewing and quilting your hat. All purpose poly thread works for both.
Pattern Included - Printed copies of the pattern are included.
Skills Learned:
- Skills are specific to the pattern that is being made. We recommend this class to confident beginners and intermediate sewists who want a supportive and fun environment in which to practice their skills and learn new ones
- This is a more open format class, and we encourage participants to ask questions about specific issues they would like assistance with for the selected pattern
While we have some great machines available to rent ($10 fee added at checkout), we highly recommend bringing your own machine to learn on so you are comfortable to venture out on your making journey together!
