Make 9 2026 - Free Template!

New project alert!

I'm excited to be joining in the Make 9 Challenge for 2026- with some really fun projects planned across the year.

I whipped up this little free planner to keep all the notes and ideas in one place, feel free to download or print your own for use at home!

The Make 9 challenge was started in 2015 by Ro from @homerowfibreco, taking inspiration from the popular Best 9 of the year Instagram post trend. Instead of highlighting the top 9 posts from the previous year, it was set to showcase plans for 9 new makes across the upcoming year.

This challenge has been an ongoing pillar of the online creative community since launch, and I'm so excited to try it out for the first time. I love matching up fabric and patterns for future projects, but have been lacking the follow-through to turn them into reality, finally! I hope with my Make 9 to find the motivation to sew a few things that have been on my To-Make list for a while, and there's nothing like the accountability you get when sharing these plans on the internet!

First up is the Juniper Dress from Tiana Herring Patterns, with Cloud 9 organic cotton canvas. We just have 2 meters left of this print, but there is lots left in other, equally rad prints from this collection. I was having a hard time choosing between this and the Quint black and tan square print when I originally had the idea for this project back in (checks order history....) August.

And of course, because we're in Calgary, I'm planning something fun to wear to Stampede too!

Get your planner below, with a Canva template for easy digital editing, or save the images below to edit in your program of choice. If you want to print it out and don't have a printer at home, make sure you head to your local library. In Calgary you get $5 of printing credit each month when you have a library card!

Digital Version- Please make a copy to edit!
