Pattern Club, the club without any pesky memberships or obligations! Join a fun group of people and sew trendy indie patterns in our vibrant studio!

Each season, we'll pick a couple of patterns that we know you'll love and run a limited time session, so you can come sew at your own pace on an instructor-led day or weekend. You might not finish your project, but that's okay - we're always here to help with follow-up questions - Pattern Club is meant to be a relaxing day of sewing and socializing!

Sign up for them all, or pick and choose which Pattern Club you want to attend! Pick your own fabric and pattern view, and come create clothes and memories in the RICK RACK studio!

The Hovea Jacket Pattern Club is split over 2 weeks to allow time to finish quilting your fabric. There are 2 homework components that will need to be done before the first class and in between the 2 classes.

Pattern: Hovea is a loose fit drop shoulder quilted jacket & coat. The pattern features multiple lengths, deep angled feature pockets, a full binding finish, and belt or tie closures.

We will be making view B, D, or, F in this Pattern Club, and will focus on straight line quilting.

Length: 5 hours the first week and 5.5 hours the second week with a half-hour lunch break each day

  • First Saturday: 10:30 am to 4:00 pm
  • Second Saturday: 10:30 am to 4:30 pm

Cost: $225.00+gst per person

Pre-Requisites: Garment sewing experience.

Level: 3/4 - Not sure if you meet the requirements to take this class? Click HERE for skill-level descriptions.

Homework:

This class is split over two weeks with the first class going over quilting and the second class jacket construction.

For the first class you will need to come with your fabric (outer, batting, and lining) cut into rectangles and for the second week you will need to come with your quilting finished and your pattern pieces cut out of your quilted fabric.

Supplies:

Fabric and Notions Not Included - You are welcome to bring fabric from anywhere, but if you buy your fabric in-store at RICK RACK you'll get a little bonus of 10% off your class fabric.

Recommended Fabric - Light to medium weight fabrics such as cotton, linen, chambray, blends etc. are recommended for the quilted versions B, D, & F. Avoid thick fabrics or these versions can become bulky.

Pattern Included - Printed and digital copies of the pattern are included. Printed patterns will be provided following registration and must be cut out or traced before class

Skills Learned:

  • Skills are specific to the pattern that is being made. We recommend this class to confident beginners and intermediate sewists who want a supportive and fun environment in which to practice their skills and learn new ones
  • This is a more open format class, and we encourage participants to ask questions about specific issues they would like assistance with for the selected pattern

While we have some great machines available to rent ($10 fee added at checkout), we highly recommend bringing your own machine to learn on so you are comfortable to venture out on your making journey together!

SOLD IN FULL METERS - fabric, elastic, and other products that are cut to measure are available only in full meters for online orders. Its a Shopify thing and as soon as we find an awesome workaround you can count on us to make that magic happen. Want to put in a request for a 0.5 meter cut? Find the form HERE! Due to order volume, 0.5m requests will NOT be processed during online sales.

Buying fabric? Measure twice so that we can cut once! Review your pattern. Check the unit of measure (we go by meters). Add a bit of length to factor in shrinkage during prewashing.

Buying patterns? Pattern size ranges can vary depending on the pattern, designer, and style. Review the pattern closely before purchase and check your own measurements against the pattern specifications. All patterns and printed materials (books, magazines, etc.) are final sale.

Picking colours? RICK RACK does our best to accurately represent all products and colours but colours may appear different between device screens. Please be aware that any cut fabric cannot be returned or exchanged, so if you're not sure about colour drop us a line or send us an email!
