Looking for a new step in your sewing journey, wovens just not the challenge they once were, or maybe your favourite t-shirt is getting a little faded? Then hop on into Intro to Sewing Knits!  

In this skills and project-based class, demystify working with knits on a sewing machine. You’ll find out just how easy it is to bang out knit t-shirts with the amazing unisex Jackson Tee from indie designer Helen’s Closet

Length: 5.5 Hours (half-hour lunch break)

Cost: $165.00+gst per person

Pre-Requisites: Intro to Wovens or experience sewing garments

Supplies: All Included. Pick from 2 colours of jersey for your t-shirt: mustard yellow or cadet blue.

  • Selecting the ideal knit fabric for projects
  • Choosing the right needles
  • Sewing machine settings
  • Using a walking foot on a sewing machine
  • How to cut out knits
  • Following a t-shirt pattern
  • Fit

Notes: If you are bringing your own machine, please bring a WALKING FOOT if you have one. We have a selection available to use, but they are for short shank attachments and may not fit all machines.

 

While we have some great machines available to rent ($10 fee added at checkout), we highly recommend bringing your own machine to learn on so you are comfortable to venture out on your making journey together!

 

CLASS CANCELLATION POLICY

Registrations can be canceled up to 48 hours after booking a class for a full refund. Cancellations made after 48 hours are eligible for a credit or transfer.  Cancellations made within 1 week of the class do not qualify for credit or transfer. 

Sick Policy: If you are unable to attend your registered class due to illness or other unforeseen health issues, we will rebook you once for any available dates. If there is no availability or you are unable to attend the available date(s), we will issue you a 50% credit for rebooking. You must contact RICK RACK before your class, and respond within a week after we contact you with options to qualify for the sick policy.

SKILL LEVELS

We want to set you up to have the best time possible in all our class, whether you are brand new to sewing or just looking to upgrade your skill set. If you aren't sure if a class is the right level for you check out our handy breakdown for our 4 levels of classes:

  • 1/4 - You are brand new to the world of sewing, no previous experience is needed, we'll teach you from scratch!
  • 2/4 - You have sewn a bit, you know how to thread your machine, straight and zig zag stitch, and you have a few projects completed
  • 3/4 - You have sewn, you know how to thread and use your machine, straight and zig zag stitch, know how to rotary cut, read a pattern, and you have 5+ individual garment projects completed
  • 4/4 - You have sewn for a while now, you know how to thread and use your machine, straight and zig zag stitch, used a serger, read a pattern and you have 10+ individual garment projects completed

SOLD IN FULL METERS - fabric, elastic, and other products that are cut to measure are available only in full meters for online orders. Its a Shopify thing and as soon as we find an awesome workaround you can count on us to make that magic happen. Want to put in a request for a 0.5 meter cut? Find the form HERE! Due to order volume, 0.5m requests will NOT be processed during online sales.

Buying fabric? Measure twice so that we can cut once! Review your pattern. Check the unit of measure (we go by meters). Add a bit of length to factor in shrinkage during prewashing. 

Buying patterns? Pattern size ranges can vary depending on the pattern, designer, and style. Review the pattern closely before purchase and check your own measurements against the pattern specifications. All patterns and printed materials (books, magazines, etc.) are final sale.

Picking colours? RICK RACK does our best to accurately represent all products and colours but colours may appear different between device screens. Please be aware that any cut fabric cannot be returned or exchanged, so if you're not sure about colour drop us a line or send us an email!
